The Chrome Addicts Steel Drum Duo

The Chrome Addicts, a steel drum duo, originated from Aircut Music Studio in San Luis Obispo, California. The steel drums that are played by Patty Dee and Andrea Iversen are chromed 55-gallon oil drums that have been fashioned into beautiful looking and sounding instruments, thus the name The Chrome Addicts! Their repertoire includes traditional Caribbean songs, Afro-Cuban, calypso, reggae, jazz and pop arrangements.  Andrea plays Tenor pan, Patty on Double Seconds, accompanied by backing music to enhance the sound.


About the Chrome Addicts
Patty and Andrea attend the prestigious Mannette Festival of Steel in West Virginia every summer that is hosted by world famous pan inventor and builder Ellie Mannette. They also attend the Ramajay Steel Drum Festival in Denver every year as well.  They have studied with internationally acclaimed pan composers and performers Andy Narell, Jeff Narell, Ray Holman, Robert Greenidge, Tom Miller, Jim Munzenrider, Alan Lightner, Liam Teague, Ken "Professor" Philmore, Chris Tanner, Don Prorak, Rick Henson and Phil Hawkins.


Patty Dee
Patty Dee, director of Aircut Music Studio has taught music in the public and private schools for the past 20 years and steel drum (pan) classes for adults and children for the past 15years. Patty has conducted many steel drum workshops and led a ten-piece steel drum band for 4 years, The Sizzling Pandoliers. The Sizzling Pandoliers recorded a CD Feel the Heat and played many private and community events including the San Luis Symphony Pops Concert, and Live Oak Music Festival. Patty has performed and recorded with guitarist and composer Garry Eister, performed with the Vocal Arts Ensemble and also accompanied the San Luis Obispo High School Choirs at Carnegie Hall.. Patty has been performing with the steel drum duo, The Chrome Addicts for the past 5 years. Patty plays Double Seconds in the duo.

Andrea Iversen   
Andrea Iversen began as a student at the studio 6 years ago and quickly became one of most accomplished players to come through the studio. A background in music on flute and clarinet, Andrea picked up the pan and was able to apply her musical knowledge to pan playing and really took off. Andrea plays tenor pan in the duo.
