Fall Steelband Classes 2018!
Starting in September 2018, we are offering 11-week sessions. Both Beginning and Intermediate classes will learn and perform an array of musical pieces of differing genres. Beginning Steel Band is an introduction level to steel drums geared for students who love the sound of steel drums and would like to play in a community steel band. This hands-on class welcomes complete beginners, as well as schooled musicians. Intermediate steel band is for those who have steel drum experience and ready for more challenging music. In these classes, students work on a variety of musical genres in a 4-part ensemble. Rhythm skills, technical skills and cultural aspects are addressed. Class pace moves according to the skill level of enrolled participants. Instruments are provided. Class culminates with a live performance at SLO's Downtown Farmers' Market. Prepare to have fun!
